FAQ

Fees, the bridge, and how the chain works

Short answers on M3G, gas, deposits, and withdrawals — plus a glossary of the terms you will see on this site. Use only published URLs and addresses.

What is MAYA CHAIN?

The official blockchain of the UK Financial Ltd ecosystem: an Ethereum Layer 2 rollup built on Arbitrum Nitro, with chain ID 6292. It executes transactions on its own chain and posts their data to Ethereum, where it settles.

What is M3G?

Maya 3G, MAYA CHAIN's gas token. It is the chain's native currency on MAYA CHAIN and an ERC-20 token on Ethereum (0xcb32d27F072b8c127355E707a0dDC3D74cBbC8b1, 18 decimals).

Which wallets work?

Any EVM wallet that lets you add a custom network, such as MetaMask. See the Network page for chain parameters.

What does a transaction cost?

Fees are paid in M3G. A simple transfer costs about 0.0075 M3G at the minimum base fee of 200 gwei of M3G. A fee covers execution on MAYA CHAIN plus a share of the cost of posting data to Ethereum.

Does a higher tip get my transaction in faster?

No. Transactions are ordered first come, first served, and tips are not collected. Set the priority fee to 0.

How long does a deposit take?

About 15–20 minutes. MAYA CHAIN credits a deposit once Ethereum has finalized the block that contains it, so an Ethereum reorganisation can never undo a credited deposit.

How long does a withdrawal take?

MAYA CHAIN's challenge period is 300 Ethereum blocks (about 1 hour). Including batch posting and the next validator assertion, a withdrawal is usually claimable on Ethereum within 1 to 3 hours.

Do I have to do anything after that?

Yes. Open the bridge and click Claim. This sends an Ethereum transaction, so keep some ETH on Ethereum. There is no deadline to claim.

Why doesn't the block number go up when nothing is happening?

MAYA CHAIN makes blocks only when there are transactions, so a quiet chain has no new blocks.

Why does block.number in my contract show a different number from the explorer?

In a contract, block.number returns an estimate of the Ethereum block number. Use ArbSys(0x64).arbBlockNumber() for the MAYA CHAIN block number.

What if the sequencer is down or ignores my transaction?

You can send it through the delayed inbox on Ethereum. If it is still not included after 24 hours, anyone can force it into the chain.

Who can upgrade MAYA CHAIN?

Chain governance, through UpgradeExecutor contracts on Ethereum and on MAYA CHAIN. Upgrades are public transactions.

Can I bridge any ERC-20 token?

Yes. In the MayaScan Bridge, pick it from the token dropdown or paste its Ethereum address. It goes through the standard gateway. Tokens with transfer restrictions or other custom rules should use a custom gateway set up by their issuer.

Is MAYA CHAIN on Chainlink CCIP?

Not yet. MAYA CHAIN is not yet listed in the CCIP Directory; until then, the canonical bridge connects it to Ethereum.
